Indications
- Echinacea root are used in traditional Western herbal medicine to decrease the symptoms of common cold including sneezing, cough, runny nose and general malaise.
- Licorice root, Pleurisy root and Thyme are used in traditional Western herbal medicine for the relief mild bronchial coughs and to reduce excess chest phlegm.
- Licorice root is used in traditional Western herbal medicine as a demulcent, antitussive and antispasmodic.
- Licorice root, Pleurisy root and Thyme are traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to support lung health.
Warnings, Contraindications and Cautions

Caution in pregnancy

Contraindicated in hypertension (including women who are prone to hypertension during pregnancy), oedema and in those taking thiazide or loop diuretics

Caution is advised in patients receiving prednisolone by injection

Contraindicated in patients taking nifedipine

Daily doses of dried Ginger in excess of 4 g are contraindicated in patients who are already taking blood thinning drugs such as warfarin or aspirin or who have increased risk of haemorrhage. In these patients, at doses of Ginger below this exercise caution

Ginger should be used cautiously in patients taking antacids (it may decrease the effectiveness as ginger increases gastric secretory activity)

Echinacea is contraindicated for long-term use in patients taking immunosuppressant medication (eg transplant patients) - short-term therapy only is suggested in this instance. The risk of allergic reaction to Echinacea is very small, especially if preparations of the root are used since these are free of pollens

Avoid long-term use in patients taking antihypertensive medications, digoxin and other potassium-depleting drugs and place patients on a high potassium diet

Caution is advised in patients taking cilostazol or phenprocoumon

Caution is advised in patients receiving midazolam by injection

Not to be used in children under two years of age without medical advice

Discontinue 7 days prior to general anaesthesia

This product is intended for short-term use

The duration of use should not exceed 8 weeks
